In high season, you’d better move by sea, in this way you can obviate all difficulties related to traffic and parking.
You only have to take the Metrò del Mare or one of Travelmar, Alicost, or Coop. Sant’Andrea ferryboats departing from Salerno to reach Positano in about a hour, taking this opportunity to stop in Amalfi too.

By bus, you have to take the line Salerno-Amalfi first, then the line Amalfi-Positano-Sorrento. In this case, you’d better think of buying the Unico Costiera ticket with 24 hour or 3 days of validity and planning a trip that includes many stops.
If you prefer to travel by car, it takes about an hour to reach Positano: it’s a quite long journey but the beauty of the sites makes driving a pleasant experience.

THINGS TO SEE IN POSITANO

The typical plastered houses
Positano is an exclusive tourist destination with a great appeal. Walking round the maze of alleys of this village it’s easy to meet many celebrities.

Such popularity is due to the spectacular view of hundreds of small houses plastered with pastel shades: they look like a crib, especially after the sunset, when they light up with thousands of lights.

You should not miss a visit to the Church of Santa Maria Assunta, whose dome is visible from every point of the village , and a trip by boat to the islets of Li Galli and Sirenuse.

THINGS TO DO IN POSITANO

In Positano is in fashion to go shopping or have a look around the boutiques that display their collections of clothes, costumes and foulards made of linen, silk or cotton.

In several workshops, it’s still possible to have the typical sandals tailor-made by hand.

You can stop at Marina Grande, or at the wonderful beaches of Arienzo, Fornillo and Fiumicello to bathe. Alternatively, there’s the nearby beach of Praiano .
